I was coming home a little early from a Christian Men’s Camp up in northeastern Arizona.
This decision became a divine appointment that I would never have guessed. Just past the last steep grade, I received a phone call from a young man named Bryce. We had just blessed his bike at the last Cycle Gear Bike Night event. He told me on the phone that he was sorry to call but wasn’t sure who else to reach out to and that he had a huge ask. I had no idea what to expect next.

He told me his brother Kyle, visiting from Detroit Michigan, borrowed his bike and was in a terrible accident due to a car turning in front of him. Bryce said he wasn’t sure if his 25-year-old brother would make it or not and asked if there was any way that I and any other CMA’ers could come to the hospital and pray with the family over Kyle. I told him “Absolutely”. I just needed to drop my car & trailer off and jump on my bike and head to the hospital. He was so thankful to hear that CMA, whom he had just met, was willing to respond so quickly.
I arrived at the hospital and met Mom & Dad (fresh in from Michigan), and the rest of the family. They told me that Kyle had suffered a serious injury to Interior Vena Cava, which brings blood from the lower extremities back to the heart, and the doctor that saw him earlier in the morning said his condition could go either way. I asked if I could pray over Kyle. The whole family gathered around the bedside and joined in.

We prayed for a miracle and for just the right medical staff. Just then a different doctor entered the room and gave them an update. The doctor explained that in these types of injuries, most commonly the person will bleed out internally and the leg(s) will swell to enormous sizes as there’s nowhere for the blood to go. Instead, Kyle’s tear coagulated, forming a clot that prevented it from bleeding out! Already answered prayers.
The doctor turned out to be the Vascular Surgeon that worked on Kyle the night before. He told them that Kyle had no other injuries. Another answered prayer! Next, he said he would be performing a procedure to go back into the vessel and “suck out” all the clots that were trapped behind an umbrella type filter he had implanted the night before. About this time, the overloaded Mother, stopped the doctor and asked, “So, are you saying my boy is going to live?” to which the surgeon responded “Yes, he is out of the danger zone and should make a full recovery.”

The surgeon also explained that he “happened” to be in Arizona from Wyoming. Yet another answered prayer that God would provide the best medical staff working on Kyle. I stood there in awe of how God’s hand was moving in that room. The Holy Spirit was overflowing that room, and I got to be a small part of this simply because we had blessed Bryce’s bike at a bike night!
Think about that. What we do matters. We may be the only connection someone knows to reach out to. I’m still not 100% sure how Bryce knew my cellphone number, but God does!
